Album Administration

What's an album?
An album is a place where pictures can be uploaded to a site, with administrative privileges only, and viewed from any computer that is connected to the Internet. The person who creates the account and albums determines who can view, add, edit, and delete photos.
An album provides a fast and easy way to:
· Share your photos with family, friends, and colleagues.
· Organize your photos
· View, add, edit, and delete photos from any computer that is connected to the Internet.

Create an album
An album is a collection of photos created by an account holder that can be viewed from any computer that has Internet access. An account holder can organize their photos by creating different albums for different families.
The account holder first creates a family name and then places different albums under each family.  The account holder can create an album for every occasion. The visitor will only have access to certain families, which only allows them to view certain albums under an account.
To create an album, you need to follow instructions once you click on Create Album to make choices for your album.

What size, type, and number of pictures can I add to albums?
There is a 1-megabyte (MB) size limit for each picture that you put in an album.
You can store pictures in an album using .gif and .jpeg files.
Tip
Because storage is based on individual Web site users, another member of your site can add more pictures to your album, and it will count toward that member's 30-MB limit, not yours.

What's resolution?
Resolution is the level of detail in the picture.
Pixels are important
Almost all file formats define a picture in terms of small individual squares, or pixels. Each pixel is defined to be a specific color, and when viewed together, the collection of colored pixels makes up a picture. The number of pixels per picture varies dramatically. A high-resolution camera might take pictures that are 1600 pixels x 1200 pixels, meaning that there are almost 2 million pixels (or 2 megapixels) making up the picture. On the other end of the scale, a small picture on a Web page might be only 160 x 120, or around 20,000 pixels.
When viewed as a small picture on a computer screen, the 2-million pixel picture will look the same as the 20,000-pixel picture. That is because a computer screen has a limited resolution, so many of the pixels for the high-resolution picture are not even used.
Pictures for prints
When it comes to printing pictures, it really pays to have a high-resolution picture. You get more detail and color. When uploading pictures to order prints, cards, or gifts, it is best to use reprint-quality. If you have reduced the resolution of your pictures, the final result will be prints of lower quality.
Pictures for the Web and e-mail
When uploading pictures to a Web site or sending them through e-mail, it's a good practice to reduce a picture's resolution. Since high-resolution picture files are relatively large, they take a long time to be transmitted through computer modems or networks. Especially with slow network connections, it can be very frustrating to wait for large pictures to download.

Yes. Any changes you make to a picture before you add it to an album are saved.

How much space do I get for my pictures?
You are limited to 30 megabytes (MB) of content-albums, pictures, messages, files, and so on-across all  Web sites you belong to. For example, if you have a site for your family that includes an album of family pictures and a calendar of events, and you add pictures to an album on a site for pictures of pets, the content you add to both sites counts towards your 30-MB limit.

How long do you keep my pictures?
Only reprint-quality pictures have a storage time limit because of the large amount of space required to store them. Other pictures in your album have no time limit for storage. A reprint-quality picture is stored for a maximum of 45 days. However, every time you use a reprint-quality picture for an order, the 45-day limit is reset. If the picture has not been used to order prints, cards, or gifts in 45 days, it will be removed, and you will need to add the picture again if you want it made available for an order.
Note
Reprint-quality pictures do not display in your album; however, when you see next to the version of the picture that site visitors see, it means that a reprint-quality version of that picture was added to the album.

About album designs
A design is a decorative theme you choose to enhance the look of your photo album. Each design consists of a background color or image, coordinated colors and typefaces, and a title page with clip art, album title, and description.
When you create an album, choose the design that fits your pictures or your sense of fun. You can customize your albums with designs that suit any occasion, including weddings, birthdays, and vacations. After choosing a design, you can view a slideshow of your album to see how you like the results.
Only the owner of the album can change an album's design, and add or change the title and description.
To get started, just click My Albums , and then click an album.

Family Member List

What happens when I share an album?
When you share an album, you permit friends and family to view the photos in the album or albums.  The account holder adds an individual to the member list and gives the individual a password so they can log on once they go to the Memory Moments web site.  You invite only the people you want to join the site by sending an e-mail with the account name and password and the Memory Moments website.

Who can add and delete albums?
Account holders or Administrators can always add or delete albums, add or delete members, or edit any of the information on the account..
You can tell if you have privileges to edit the account if  Create a New Album appears on the page.
How do I give permission to others to add pictures to an album?
You give permission to others to add pictures to an album by making them an administrator rather than a member of the account.  Only administrators can edit and add to accounts.

How can I control what's in my album?
Control of what's in an album depends on your role. Below is a summary of the roles and what those roles can do.
Administrators (Admin):
· Can delete individual pictures added to any album.
· Can hide albums.
· Can delete entire albums
· Can control who views the albums
· Can edit or delete all of the content in an album
Members:
· Can only view albums and add comments
Members can also have Administrative privileges. They have access to editing and deleting album information and content but they do not have the access to remove the account holder from the list.
Remove a picture from an album
Only Administrators have access to do this.
Make sure you are in the album that contains the picture you want to delete.
1. Click the trash can icon to the right of the picture you want to delete. (If you're viewing full-size pictures, the trash can icon appears above the picture.)
2. Click OK in the confirmation box.
Note
If you see the message "This is a managers-only area" after clicking OK, you do not have permission to delete that picture.

Remove an album
To remove an album from a site that contains an album list:
1. Click the name of the album list on the left.
2. In the list of albums on a site, click the trash can icon to the right of the album you want to delete.
3. Click OK in the confirmation box.
Note
If you do not see the trash can icon to the right of an album in the album list, you do not have permission to delete that album. (In most cases, you are only able to delete albums that you create.)
For managers of sites that do not include an album list:
1. Click Manager Tools on the list on the left.
2. Click Manage Pages.
3. In the page list box on the page titled Manage Your Pages, click the name of the album you want to remove.
4. Click Delete Page.
5. Click OK in the confirmation box.
6. Click Save Changes.
Note
If you are a manager, you can choose to hide an album instead of removing it from the site.

About owners and guest permissions
You are the owner of any albums that you create. As an owner, you can share your pictures or albums with guests in two ways:
· Allow guests permission only to view.
· Allow guests permission both to view and to download (the process of copying files from an external location [e.g., Web site or digital camera] to a computer) , print, and order prints and gifts. You can control this by selecting or clearing the permissions check box on the sharing e-mail.
To allow friends and family only to view your pictures or albums, simply use the e-mail invitation to send invitations to guests to see your pictures on the site. Be sure that the permissions check box is not selected on the sharing e-mail. If you change your mind later, you can send the e-mail again with the check box selected.
To allow guests to do more with the pictures in your album than just viewing, give them permission in the e-mail invitation. For example, you could give your grandmother guest permission to your album so she can choose which pictures of her first great-grandchild she'd like to order prints of. To give permission, be sure that the check box is selected on the sharing e-mail message.
If you give guests permission to do more than just view your pictures, they can:
· Download pictures.
· Print pictures.
· Order prints and gifts.
· Copy pictures to their own My Web Pictures folder.
Guests cannot get permission to change the pictures they view or to change the design of an album.
